Important steps after a loss:

  1. Do not sign a contract with anyone seeking to represent you or adjust your claim at this time. We will pay everything that is due under the policy and will negotiate directly with you if you disagree with the adjuster’s estimate. We stake our reputation on our fair claim settlements and it is not necessary to pay anyone out of your claim recovery dollars to handle your claim before we have had the opportunity to reach an agreed settlement.
  2. Protect the property from further damage by making reasonable and necessary repairs, including tarping a roof. Please call professionals and do not endanger yourself. Costs for reasonable and necessary repairs are included as part of your covered claim. Keep receipts for all expenses.
  3. If accidental water damage occurs, shut off any water supply that may cause further damage. Call us and call a plumber. Begin immediate procedures to extract water, apply circulation with fans if you can safely use electrical systems, and begin necessary drying process. Do not touch electrical outlets or appliances if damaged by water or if you are standing in water. Remove all furnishings from the affected area. Wet clothing and linens should be cleaned and dried immediately to avoid mildew. We recommend you contact a reputable, professional water extraction service, but please be prepared to pay the costs if this claim is not covered under the policy.
  4. If your loss involves a crime, such as theft, burglary or vandalism, contact your local law enforcement immediately to report the incident. A copy of the incident report will be required to process the claim.
  5. Make a list of all damaged personal property, showing the quantity, description and amount of loss. Attach all bills, receipts and related documents that you have to justify the figures in the inventory.

PLEASE REFER TO “YOUR DUTIES AFTER LOSS” IN YOUR POLICY AND CALL US IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS.
